SUNSET+VINE TO PRODUCE BT SPORT'S AMERICA'S CUP COVERAGE

Tinopolis Group company Sunset+Vine will produce BT Sport’s coverage of the America’s Cup. Starting on Friday 26th May, BT Sport will be showing 22 days of coverage from Bermuda exclusively live in the UK.

Sunset+Vine will have a team of 30 working on the production in Bermuda, for what an event that will see sailing legend Sir Ben Ainslie, the most successful Olympic sailor of all-time, attempt to bring the oldest trophy in international sport back to British waters with his Land Rover BAR team aboard their foil-borne, wing-powered carbon fibre America’s Cup catamaran.

Award-winning TV presenter Clare Balding will anchor BT Sport’s coverage with double Olympic gold medallist Shirley Robertson supporting as reporter and Olympic sailor and foiling skipper Stevie Morrison providing expert analysis. The channel will show all of the America’s Cup action live from Bermuda, from the Qualifiers through to the America’s Cup Match – a total of 23 days of world-class sailing action.

Andrew Preece, Executive Director at Sunset+Vine, said: “This America’s Cup is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and unpredictable in recent history. The boats jet around on foils at motorway speeds, the coverage – with its LiveLine superimposed graphic ‘pitch’ – makes the racing easy to understand, and Britain has a real chance of bringing the Cup back to British shores for the first time since it all began back in 1851. And so we are very proud at Sunset+Vine to be producing the coverage for BT Sport.”

The win comes on the back of a successful period for Sunset+Vine, which over the past year has included deals for the ICC’s Live Events Production Services 2016-2019 (which includes the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy taking place in England) and host broadcaster deals for the Gold Coast 2018 (Commonwealth Games), The British round of the World Triathlon Series in Leeds as well as the London 2017 World Athletics Host Broadcast and Caribbean Premier League (Cricket).

Sunset+Vine has worked on the world’s most well-known sailing events, producing the BBC’s Olympics coverage (Rio 2016 + London 2012); three Volvo Ocean Race host broadcasts; the America’s Cup for the BBC in 2003 and now in 2017 and World Sailing Olympic Classes World Championships in 2011 and 2014. It also produces the popular monthly grand prix sailing series ‘The World Sailing Show’ as well as ‘MainSail’ for CNN.

The first 12 days of live racing from the Qualifiers and the Challenger Play-off semi-finals plus highlights from the Challenger Final and the Match broadcast on BT’s Freeview channel, BT Sport Showcase HD channel 115 and Virgin channel 548.
