BADMINTONscotland continue to secure key partnerships in the countdown to the TOTAL BWF World Championships 2017 in Glasgow in August with the announcement today that renowned television production company Sunset+Vine, part of The Tinopolis Group, will be the host broadcaster for the Championships.
Anne Smillie, Chief Executive of BADMINTONscotland, confirmed the partnership today during the Yonex All England Championships in Birmingham.
“Sunset+Vine has a large sporting portfolio, and a long association with the All England”, said Ms Smillie, adding: “We are looking forward to bringing their expertise in outside broadcasts to our World Championships.
“They have a great reputation in the television industry and are used to working on major sporting events so we are confident we have made the best possible choice.
“We want the excitement and drama of the Championships to be seen all over the world by those badminton fans who can’t be in Glasgow.”
She continued: “We are delighted that so many of our key partnerships are already firmly in place as we enter the final five months in the countdown to the World Championships coming to the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.”
Jeff Foulser, chairman of Sunset+Vine, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed as Host Broadcaster for the TOTAL BWF World Championships 2017. We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with both the sport of Badminton in general, and the All England in particular, having looked after that event for 15 years and, in 2014, covering all the Badminton as part of our Host Broadcast of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
“We relish the opportunity of bringing together Sunset+Vine’s global sports events expertise to the TOTAL BWF World Championships 2017 – and making this a championship that’s as exhilarating to watch on screen, as it will be for the thousands that make the journey to Scotland to see in person.”
Paul Bush OBE, VisitScotland’s Director of Events, said: “I’m delighted Sunset and Vine have come on board as the host broadcaster for the Total BWF World Championships 2017. They are a great addition to the list of partners and will ensure badminton fans around the world get to be part of the action no matter where they are.
“Scotland is the perfect stage for events, and EventScotland is proud to be supporting BADMINTONscotland to deliver the best Championships ever.”
The TOTAL BWF Badminton World Championships 2017 will be staged at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena from 21-27 August.
It is being delivered by BADMINTONscotland in partnership with Glasgow Life on behalf of Glasgow City Council and with funding support from EventScotland and UK Sport.
