Great news for Mentorn Media and Firecracker Films last night, who both won at the Broadcast Digital Awards 2019 in their nominated categories.
Firecracker Films won Best Popular Factual Programme for Emma Willis: Delivering Babies for W Channel.
Mentorn Media won the Best Short-Form Format award for Things Not To Say for BBC Three.
Emma Willis: Delivering Babies went out last year to critical acclaim and record ratings, becoming the W Channel’s best-performing original to date. It follows TV presenter Emma Willis as she trains to become a Maternity Care Assistant at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, Essex.
One of the judges at the awards, credited the show for it's unique access and described it as “warm, emotional love letter to the NHS”
Things Not To Say is a hugely successful returning series for BBC Three, it is a series of short films that allows young people to share their unique experiences, and to speak honestly and often light-heartedly about the common misconceptions or prejudices they face in their everyday lives.
The judges said about Things Not To Say: “This is truly a short-form show of the moment, dealing with issues that are relevant and delivered in an entertaining and informative way. It educated and entertained, and was beautifully edited.”
Congratulations to all involved in these great shows!
