The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has appointed broadcast production company Sunset+Vine as host broadcaster for the upcoming London 2017 World Para Athletics Championships, which take place from 14-23 July in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The London-based company, who has also been appointed to produce the IAAF World Championships London 2017 in August, has committed to provide full live coverage as well as daily highlights and news packages from the event. A ready-to-broadcast event summary will follow after the Championships.
IPC Commercial & Marketing Director Alexis Schäfer said: “We are excited that with Sunset+Vine’s support we are in a position to offer to broadcasters the best broadcast production yet at a World Para Athletics Championships.
“Sunset+Vine have a track record of broadcasting global sports events to huge audiences and by working with them we will take our coverage to a new level.
“Since 2011 in Christchurch, New Zealand, we continuously improved the broadcast production and increased the number of rights holding broadcasters at each edition of the Championships.
“With broadcasters like Channel 4 who have already committed to covering the event, London 2017 will be the World Championships with the best TV coverage to date.”
Jeff Foulser, chairman of Sunset+Vine, said: “It’s a great honour to have been awarded the Host Broadcaster contract for the London 2017 World Para Athletics Championships.
“It provides a unique opportunity to bring together Sunset+Vine’s global sports events expertise with our award-winning Paralympic Games experience.
“We look forward to working with the IPC to continue the journey with its broadcast partners that both demystifies Para sport and presents it in exhilarating and entertaining ways for their audiences.”
Niels de Vos, London 2017 Championships Director, said: “We are delighted that Sunset+Vine has been awarded the Host Broadcaster contract for the London 2017 World Para Athletics Championships.
“For many years now they have provided dynamic and award-winning coverage of Para athletics and we are thrilled that they will be working with us to bring the iconic moments of London 2017 to the world through their coverage.”
The London 2017 World Para Athletics Championships will form part of London's Summer of World Athletics, when they will be held for the first time in the same city as the IAAF World Championships.
Over four magical weeks, the world's top athletes will bring the roar back to the iconic stadium in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park that witnessed the successful London 2012 Paralympic Games.
The World Para Athletics Championships will include 213 medal events, featuring approximately 1,300 athletes.
